What is Scratch Works?

Scratch Works is a term Down Undah uses to describe the traditional beginning of drawing. It's simply the rough draft sketch that many professional artists use to help guide them when drawing. As you read on you well see that the term Scratch Works is very fitting. Down Undah cares about giving it's members the opportunity to improve on their own artistic skills and this is just the first of many more art styles that will come

Why should I care about Scratch Works?

Unlike the many line art graphics that are available in the graphics community, Scratch Works takes a considerable amount of creativity because scratch works are neither line art or finished products. It will be up to you to determine how the finished product will look. In addition to having to use more skill and creativity, the more you work with Scratch Works the better your hand drawings will be since it involves more drawing than the normal line art that is out there. If you like small images, then that's no problem. All scratch works will be presented in a large size that will allow you to resize the image as needed. If you care about the quality of your artistic skills then you Scratch Works is just for you.

How will I benefit from Scratch Works?

As stated before your artistic skills will increase greatly, but there's more. Other benefits Include: The opportunity to actually be able to sell your finished art and to do with as you please. Certain Scratch Works will be drawn specifically so that you can sale your finished product. While other can only be used for practice and not to help create images to sale. Scratch Work techniques are not only limited to the computer so if you have a digital drawing tablet, those same skill that you learn while working on the computer can be transferred to drawings on papers.

Why are the drawings messy looking?

The drawings are messy looking because that's the technique. Drawing isn't all about drawing the perfect image from scratch. Drawing is taking one step at a time and working your way up to the finished product. If you try to draw a perfect image from the start the you will not only become frustrated but you will also spend more time than is actually needed to draw a good picture. The purpose of Scratch Works isn't to give you a "cookie cutter" image that will allow you to quickly reproduce what the artist has already done. You'll never learn how to create great are that way and it will actually reduce your creative skills and abilities. Not to mention destroy your imagination.
